How fast you call a franchise candidate decides who wins them

A franchise candidate researching an opportunity is almost never talking to one network. The first credible conversation sets the frame every other network gets compared against. Speed to first contact is the cheapest advantage in franchise recruitment, and most networks give it away.

Why does speed to lead matter so much in franchise recruitment?

Because the candidate is comparing networks in parallel. Whoever has the first real conversation defines the criteria the others get judged on. Arriving third means answering someone else’s questions.

This is different from consumer lead gen, where speed mainly protects against the lead going cold. In franchise, speed buys you the frame.

How fast is fast enough?

Same working day at worst, inside the hour where possible. A candidate who registers on Sunday night and hears nothing until Wednesday has already spoken to two other networks.

The exact target matters less than removing the multi-day gaps. Most networks do not have a speed problem on Tuesday morning, they have one on weekends and holidays.

From our accounts

The gap between registration and first human contact is the cheapest thing to fix in most franchise accounts and it is almost never on the report. We measure it because it moves signings more reliably than another round of audience testing.

Does speed matter if there is a mandatory waiting period anyway?

Yes, and arguably more. In Australia the 14-day disclosure period means the decision is slow, but the shortlist forms fast. You have to be on the shortlist before the slow part starts.

Speed gets you into consideration. The nurture across the waiting period is what keeps you there.

What usually causes slow first contact?

Development teams buried in unqualified registrations. When everything reaches the team ungraded, fundable candidates queue behind browsers and the queue is invisible on the report.

We grade every registration Green, Amber, Red before it reaches the development team, so the people who can fund a territory get called first. That is a routing fix, not a staffing fix.

How do you measure it properly?

Time from registration to first human contact, tracked per source and per market. Not average response time across everything, which hides the weekend problem.

Look at the worst decile, not the mean. That is where the lost candidates are.

What does fixing it change?

More of the candidates you already paid for reach a real conversation. It lowers cost per signed franchisee without touching ad spend, which is why we look at it before we look at audiences.

On the Resicert network, cost per lead fell from A$43.75 to A$18.39, a 58% drop, alongside 50+ franchises signed over six years. Intake discipline is part of that, not just media buying.

A note on why we look here first

Because it is free. Fixing the gap between registration and first call costs nothing in media spend and it recovers candidates you have already paid for.

Every other lever in franchise recruitment costs money. This one costs a routing decision. That is why it goes first in every account we take over, before we touch a single audience.

What good looks like after ninety days

Every enquiry graded before a human sees it. Response time inside minutes rather than hours. A dashboard that reports signed outcomes, not form fills. And a cost per signed outcome you can state from memory, because you finally have one worth remembering.

Proof, sourced. Resicert has been a client for six years. In that time cost per lead dropped 58%, A$43.75 to A$18.39, and the network signed 50+ franchises across Australia and New Zealand, five of them in June 2026. Signings are verified by email confirmation and a paid closing bonus, and the account is corroborated by a Clutch review and a video testimonial.
